Can't find the function that lets you mark a spot on the wave form, such as where you want to begin or end your edit. ??? (In Adobe/Cool Edit, it would be the F8 key) Can anyone advise?

The process you speak if is called Labeling.
Just use the mouse cursor instead of the buttons


Look for the mention of "Label" in the "Project" Tab drop down box in the tool bar.

click the waveband where you want the label and then go into "Project" ..then click "add label at selection",

do this for each label
