Audacity Users Group

I have used Audacity to record one book; 6 and 1/2 hours. I need to know how to break that down so folks can easily stop after a chapter and safely turn off their MP3 player.

Hi,
You put the click the cursor at the end of the chapter. Then from the edit menu pull down choose "select" then cursor to end. Then enter. That should have the rest on a new track. Repeat this process for the rest of your novel. See this page for more details...

Hope that helps.

Dear Mark,

I am new to using Audacity 1.3.7 (beta unicode) and am having a very difficult time understanding HOW to split a mp3/wav file into seperate tracks/files?

The instructions above do not work with the version I am using. I have in my menu "Edit > Select > All OR None OR Left at Playback OR Right at Playback OR Track Start to Cursor OR Cursor to Track End"

When I select "Cursor to Track End" it highlights the entire track?

Would you please help me. Thank you.

Ayesha
