Audacity Users Group

I've converted a sample stereo (vocal/piano) demo tape from ION Tape2PC into an MP3 file. I then opened that file in Audacity to begin editing it. However, I notice that there is a distortion in the selection. Is there a way to eliminate or diminish the distortion? So far I've tried the Equalization and Normalize features in EFFECTS. I'd be much obliged for any input.

Hi,

I import only wav files, then change them to mp3 with audacity. I have never had distortion doing it that way. I do a lot of "Micro Editing" in audacity where I go in up to 75 frames per second to make sure all my audio tracks are lined up, tight as tight can be. Hope that helps.
