I'm a new member here and have a couple of questions about recording with Audacity. Unless I am missing something, the only way to set recording levels in Audacity is to click the Record button then adjust the level while it is actually recording. Is this correct? I would like to be able set the level without actually doing a Record. With my old cassette recorder I could put it into Record mode while it was paused to accomplish the same thing. Is there anything like this in Audacity?
A related question is can I monitor the audio source for the record? In other works, I would like to be able to hear the audio source (a USB input for example) through my computers speakers while doing the record (or setting up the levels, as described above)
I have the same question. Seems odd doesn't it? I'm always fumbling around with the mouse to adjust the recording volume while trying to hold my guitar and keep from knocking is against the desk. Did you get an answer?
